Charlamagne: I Hope Bobby Shmurda Got a Good Label Deal

http://www.vladtv.com - Charlamagne tha God shares his thoughts on Bobby Shmurda's newfound fame, and reveals that he really likes what the Brooklyn rapper is bringing to the table in Hip-Hop. While admitting that he's a fan of Shmurda and his "Hot N***a" hit, he also ponders why New Yorkers think they're too cool to dance now. He references top influencers in history, including Heavy D and Diddy, and questions why the trend seems to have disappeared in New York.

The conversation then moves to Shmurda's label deal with Epic Records, and Charlamagne thinks the Brooklyn emcee should've stayed independent unless he got a good chunk of money from the label, that is. The outspoken radio host speaks about Trinidad James' Def Jam deal, rumored to be worth $2 million, which was inked after James' "All Gold Everything" single went viral. Charlamagne says that despite what people think about Trinidad James, he salutes the Atlanta rapper for getting that much money off one single.

The "Charlamagne and Friends" host ends the conversation by reflecting on how he realized how small the world had become after seeing Shmurda's "Hot N*gga" making its way out to London. He recalls that he was hosting a party at a UK club when the DJ put the hit record on and the crowd went nuts. The Breakfast Club host believes the record never would've made it out of Shmurda's hometown of Brooklyn if it weren't for the Internet. Do you agree?
