Riot police stood guard outside the Ferguson Police department building on Monday night following the announcement of the Grand Jury's decision to not indict police officer Darren Wilson in the Michael Brown shooting.

Racial tensions have remained high in Ferguson following the August 9 fatal shooting of the unarmed 18-year old by white police officer Darren Wilson, and protests are ongoing. Brown was shot six times with two shots to his head, according to the first autopsy. Eye-witness accounts say his hands were raised as he was killed.

Just three of the Ferguson Police Department's 53 members are African American, while according to U.S. Census statistics, nearly 70 percent of Ferguson's population of 21,000 are African American.
