After meeting Assange, Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova said they had something in common with him "as characters". Julian Assange is the founder of whistleblowing website WikiLeaks. He sought asylum in 2012 at the South American state’s London embassy in order to avoid being extradited to the US for publishing military secrets.
